Pershing Square Ice Rink

What says Christmas more than a little bit of ice skating? At the Pershing Square ice rink, you can engage in this holiday tradition in style.

There are actually quite a few ice rinks in Los Angeles. However, there are a few qualities that make this one a little bit different

For one thing, the setting. Pershing Square is smack in the middle of downtown Los Angeles. This gives the entire setting a comfortable, almost romantic backdrop. The area is surrounded by skyscrapers and other large buildings.

But besides being surrounded by vibrancy, the rink itself is also pretty bopping.

This is actually the largest ice rink in the city. That’s fun in its own right, but also not the only thing that the rink does right.  The best part? Event nights. They have DJ’s, disco nights, and even curling.

If you are looking for a unique rink with lots of character, this is one to consider.
Bob Baker’s The Nutcracker

Puppets aren’t always a lot of fun, but during the holidays they feel…festive. That’s the approach that Bob Baker’s interpretation of the Nutcracker, takes anyway.

This performance is actually quite well known in the Los Angeles area. This is the 49th year of the production.

For forty eight of those years, the play has been in one location. This year, the production is shaking things up a little bit and going offsite to the Pasadena Playhouse.

The show uses over one hundred puppets throughout the course of the production. Every single one of them is handmade, which adds a cozy component to the show.

Bob Baker’s The Nutcracker takes a classic story and tells it in an exciting way. If you are looking for a fun, unique experience this Christmas season, look no further.
Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol

To keep with the theme of stage drama, let’s end things by taking a look at a true Christmas classic. Few writers are even half associated with the Christmas season as Charles Dickens.

The man is responsible for many memorable Christmas scenes throughout the course of his work, but of course, A Christmas Carol is probably his most famous.

This version, held at the Geffin Playhouse does things a little bit differently. The play has been restructured by Tony award winning actor Jefferson Mays. Mays makes the play unique by performing every role, from Scrooge to Tiny Tim, all by himself.

See Dickens’ classic tale come to life like never before in this unique adaptation.
