While it may not always feel like the holidays according to the weather in LA, there is no lack of holiday spirit in the city! There are plenty of things to do and see throughout the holidays from popular parks turned festive to bringing snow to the city.

Watch the stars parade through Hollywood

Christmas parades are one thing, but the Hollywood Christmas Parade has to be the best of them all, naturally. Not only are the floats and decorations absolutely amazing, but the parade is lined with familiar faces from Hollywood including actors, hosts, musical artists and more. The parade will take place on November 25, 2018. Bundle up or bundle down; you’re sure to have a jolly time either way!

Have a snow day
Snow and Los Angeles are two things that just don’t go together naturally. Thankfully, Snow Day LA offers those in the city the opportunity to have a white Christmas experience by creating a manmade winter wonderland throughout November and December. Visitors will easily forget they’re in LA when walking through light shows, taking snow tube rides, sipping hot cocoa and even hanging out with penguins!

Be a Grinch

If you’re tired of all the joy around you and need a new, rotten perspective of Christmas, head to Grinchmas at Universal Studios where you and your fellow Grinches can loathe the holiday entirely together. Grinchmas includes a step right into Who-ville and a sneak peek into the Grinch’s home on Mount Crumpit. It may be hard to leave without a smile on your face after taking a picture with the man himself, Mr. Grinch, as photo opportunities are available as well.

Light the menorah

Take a trip to the Porter Ranch Town Center in Northridge for a special Chanukah celebration. The family-friendly festivities include traditional Jewish dishes, crafts, storytelling and of course, menorah lighting.

Deck the halls with lions, tigers, and bears

From mid-November to January, The LA Zoo Lights hosts an awesome holiday experience like no other. During the event, the zoo is filled with light shows and animal-themed displays. Santa will be in-house for pictures on some days with his reindeer. Expert reindeer trainers will be on-site to discuss reindeer training and behavior as well.

Skate like a king

From November 10 – January 7, you will be able to skate around the Christmas tree at L.A. LIVE’s Microsoft Square. Take a few laps around the rink before an L.A. King’s game, go on date night or enjoy a night out with the family at the rink all winter long. Special events and guests will be making appearances throughout the time of the installation as well.

Go to the happiest place on earth

What could possibly make Disneyland more magical than it already is? A lot of lights, holiday cheer and your favorite characters decked out in holiday gear! Everything in the park is given a little extra magic starting on November 9. The castles are strung with holiday lights, festive foods are available throughout the park, and be sure not to miss one of the most spectacular fireworks shows in existence during the “Believe in Holiday Magic” fireworks, complete with snowflakes!

Get in the holiday spirit throughout the winter and experience the unique celebrations without the (real) snow getting in the way of your experience. Hang out with Mickey Mouse, The Grinch, ice skate with the pros, or have an LA-style snow day – and the best part: you won’t have to freeze doing it!
