There's something going on every night, and for those looking to get back into the dating scene, there are some great options. The Surly Goat The Surly Goat is dimly lit and boasts an eclectic crowd. There's something for everyone here—a fantastic craft beer selection and full bar, a makeshift dance floor, booths that offer some privacy, an outside smoking patio and a shuffleboard table. Getting a game going is a great way to meet strangers. The Goat gets crowded on weekends but there is rarely a line, especially earlier in the evening. During the week there's a much more laid-back vibe and a fun karaoke night on Wednesday. The Phoenix The Phoenix is a newer joint that is a bit off the beaten path. This means that people go out of their way to make it down to Wilshire and La Cienega, so everyone has pretty much one thing on their mind. It is hard to walk through the place without bumping into someone, so this place isn't for those looking for a quiet evening. The pool tables are always bustling, and the huge bar allows plenty of opportunity to order drinks for a new friend. The Den of Hollywood The Den offers the perfect setup to interact with singles—a big outdoor patio with a fire pit and lots of board games. What better way to make new friends than over a game of Drunken Jenga? The Den also has reasonably priced drinks and a fantastic food menu. Try and arrive early to get a table before it gets too crowded. Chateau Marmont Directly across the street from The Den is the world famous Chateau Marmont. The drinks are a little bit pricier and the clientele a little less casual. Upscale dress is recommended and arriving a bit early so there won't be a line. The ambiance is fantastic and the bar is usually a great mix of being crowded but not jam-packed. Celebrity sightings are also common. The Standard Downtown The Standard's pool is one of the greatest spectacles in town. There are two locations in town (the other one is in West Hollywood), but the downtown location is much more raucous on hot summer days. The pool is packed with single people in their beach outfits drinking mojitos and margaritas. It's an experience ripe for making new friends and potential finding the perfect match.
