Tipping their hat to you from Shaky Town Northeast, CB Brand has been living up to it's moniker as "The Loch Ness Monster of Country Rock Outfits" for years now: appearing through the foam in grainy photos and sound recordings while reeling apologues bandied about in the bars and living rooms of regional hamlets. They've dusted floors and stages up and down the Golden State and Great Basin, releasing the maidenhead "Cloud EP" 7" on Wonder Valley Records in 2006 and more recently a cassette only eponymous release on NYC's Whip Records and wide soundtrack acreage in Calvin Lee Reeder's cinematic fiesta "The Rambler". Folks are still raving about the Big Sur New Year's Eve 2016-17 three hour marathon dance party that had the Fernwood Resort hanging it from the rafters! With Chadwick Brown vocally/rhythmically steering the group of Sean Hoffman on guitar, Kip Boardman on bass/keys, and Steve Didelot on drums, the band slides across the spectrum of Americana Country and Boogie Rock Music akin to the little amber lamp on an old Wonderbar radio leading down the road to the sparkling river of the lost weekend ahead. Peppered in with original classics, including the California regional hit "Let's Go Get Stoned" and the favorite-in-Kuala Lumpur "She Came With The Whiskey", CB Brand's set will flip through a well stocked rock and roll-odex to work out a few hand-tooled versions of songs from backcountry waypoints on the musical map and on down the road to that Stuckey's glowing in the distance... Some records feel equally at home hanging in the Metropolitan Museum of Art as they do resounding across the windswept polo fields of Coachella. A R I Z O N A transform guitars, keys, and vocals into brushstrokes of alternative, indie, and electronic dance pop on their 2017 full-length debut album, GALLERY [Atlantic Records/Artist Partner Group]. The New Jersey-based trio of songwriters and producers???Zach [vocals], Nate [guitar], and David [keys]???treat their music with the deliberation and diligence of a master painter. ???We used to jam inside of a basement studio at a place called ???The Galleria??? back in our hometown of Glen Rock, NJ,??? recalls Zach. ???That???s how we got the name. The songs capture a crazy time in our lives over the past year. Beyond the cool historic significance, the title represents the record???s meaning, which is to put emotions and moments on display as if they were in a GALLERY.??? In 2016, the longtime friends began to make waves throughout the music industry. Augmenting a bond that dates back to their college days in Boston and continued through stints living and recording in Los Angeles and London, the musicians hunkered down in Jersey, uniting under the moniker A R I Z O N A. ???We had all been through the ringer with music,??? he sighs. ???We got home and decided to do something with absolutely no bounds, requirements, goals, or marks. We just wanted to create for the sake of creating.??? You could say their (non)plan worked. Signed to Atlantic Records and Artist Publishing Group last summer, the band quietly released a string of singles that would enchant countless listeners worldwide. They impressively average over 9 million unique listeners per month as the 142nd most-streamed artist in the world. In less than a year, ???I Was Wrong??? clocked over 78 million cumulative Spotify streams, ???Oceans Away??? surpassed 68 million Spotify streams, and ???Cross My Mind??? exceeded 18 million Spotify Streams, occupying coveted playlists such as ???Today???s Top Hits??? and ???New Music Friday??? on a regular basis. Heavy hitters such as Robin Schulz and Sam Feldt lent their remix talents to the tracks, while early acclaim came from Billboard, Nylon, Baeble Music, Galore, Dancing Astronaut, and more. Before the release of an album, sales and consumption crossed the 500,000-mark. In between making their television debut on CBS???s The Chef???s Classic, they set a robust festival run including stops at Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Firefly, Hangout Festival, and more. ???We love to just be in the moment,??? admits Zach. ???It???s unbelievable. We would be writing music no matter what. By doing what we love, we???ve taken control of our path and achieved something positive we never could???ve imagined.??? Co-written with powerhouse songwriter Julia Michaels [Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran], the 2017 single ???Electric Touch??? struts through warm piano keys before wriggling into the dance floor-ready refrain, ???Give me your electric touch.??? Synths writhe and wrap around a soulful croon, entwining in iridescent neon-illuminated bliss. The video fittingly follows a real-life couple who were inspired by the band and drove cross-country to catch a show. After their starring role in the clip, the two lovers bravely came out. ???That???s the biggest validation of all,??? says Zach. ???It???s so beautiful, because the song really is about the connection between two people in one moment, regardless if the circumstances allowed it to sustain or not.??? GALLERY kicks off with the shuffling and swaggering ???Annie.??? Echoes of tribal percussion coast in tandem with Zach???s impassioned and intoxicating delivery channeling Michael Jackson and Sting all in the same breath. ???Sometimes, you get in an argument with your girl, and you know you???re being kind of an asshole,??? he smiles. ???It???s an admission like, ???I know I???m a bit of a dick sometimes, but everything is going to be alright. Hang around. I???m the man, and I???ve got this shit covered.??? It???s lighthearted and fun.??? Among the other anthems, ???Running??? charges forward on a glitch-y stomp with an empowering chant, while ???Feed The Beast??? gets unabashedly funky before snapping into a show-stopping falsetto. ???Our style is alternative pop music where a lot of the melodies and songwriting aren???t overthought,??? says Zach. ???We don???t try to be left-of-center. Writing pop music comes naturally to us, because it???s a way to be honest and raw without having to dig too deep for the meaning. Sonically, we have so much fun in the studio. People can take the lyrics literally or apply their own experiences.??? The name A R I Z O N A places the focus directly on the music. Inspired by a joke Dave made about Nate???s ???Arizona??? hat in the studio, it made perfect sense. ???This band was never going to be about what it???s called,??? he remarks. ???It was always going to be about the music. Everything else is just superficial. It???s placing emphasis on the substance behind the name.??? GALLERY stands out as A R I Z O N A???s very first masterpiece, and it???s primed to resonate in the hearts of listeners everywhere. ???When people listen to our music, we just want to make sure they feel good,??? Zach concludes. ???Being touched by art fuels real change. We???ve seen it. If they walk away from the art even slightly changed, maybe they can change things for the better in the world around them as well.???

In the summer of 2005, after a series of deaths in the family, Michael Deni left his hometown in New Jersey for San Francisco. He spent the next several months with his guitar and a synthesizer, turning that tragedy into the songs that would soon become the foundation for Geographer. With the additions of cellist Nathan Blaz and drummer Brian Ostreicher, Geographer spent the next year cutting their teeth in the Bay Area, winning over crowds with the heart-pounding epics that make up their debut record, 'Innocent Ghosts.' After being selected one of three 'Undiscovered Bands You Need To Hear Now' by SPIN Magazine and garnering considerable word-of-mouth praise from their energetic live shows, the band signed to San Francisco-based label Tricycle Records, releasing a 7" single for the song 'Kites' in October 2009. 'Animal Shapes' follows up 'Kites,' building on the synth-driven aesthetic of the single, while _irting with darker, more esoteric underpinnings. The record merges Geographer's aptitude for crafting beautiful, haunting melodies with textural sounds and polyrhythmic energy, marking an evolution of their distinct style. With the overwhelming response to the release of 'Kites' and 'Animal Shapes,' punctuated by a dynamic and engaging live set, the band has already begun to make an indelible mark on the ears of music fans worldwide.
Opaque in an age of Internet transparency, James Supercave's approach to pop stardom is a bit less visible and a little more strange. Beyond the fragmentary web presence, the pixel personality, the blogger hearsay-to know James Supercave is to listen to the music. Supercave assumes the pop idiom, filling its dimensions (drums, synth, guitar, bass, vocals) while continually charting its fringes. The result: modern eccentricities thrown Pollock-like against psych pop-a sound that is cerebral in lyric and muscular in command of beat and groove. Whether in winking jabs at corporations, or in frustration anthems angled at the internet native, James Supercave offers an uncompromising mirror to life's edges: the smooth, the rough-hewn, the odd-angled. James Supercave, the pixelated face of many, offers urgency to preserve the human in it all. After sharing stages with Future Islands, Warpaint, Chet Faker, and Jungle, James Supercave partnered with Fairfax Recordings for their debut LP, Better Strange. Supercave is currently on tour, with the album set to release in February 2016. The Seshen is a San Francisco Bay Area-based six-piece led by singer/lyricist Lalin St. Juste and bassist/producer Akiyoshi Ehara. Their forward-thinking sound combines synthesizers, drum machines, live percussion, and entrancing harmonies to create an unmistakable fusion of R&B, synth-pop, and electronic music. St. Juste and Ehara are joined by four remarkable bandmates to create their multidimensional music: drummer Chris Thalmann, keyboard/synth player Mahesh Rao, percussionist Mirza Kopelman, and sampler Kumar Butler. They take inspiration from across the musical spectrum; their individual influences range from recognizable artists (Erykah Badu, Jai Paul, James Blake, Radiohead, and Broadcast) to genres and eras that don???t initially appear to fit together (hip hop, indie rock, early electronica, and 70???s dub). Their unique alchemy of seemingly disparate sounds has led fans and critics alike to describe the band as defying categorization. The Seshen???s latest release, Flames & Figures (October 14, 2016 ??? Tru Thoughts), was two years in the making and marks an evolution in their distinctive sound. Narrated by St. Juste???s lyrical stream of consciousness, Flames & Figures explores themes of femininity, power, illusion, and loss, as she draws on both her personal experiences and the world of her imagination. The band remains in high demand, supporting live shows with the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, tUnE-yArDs, Thundercat, Petite Noir and many more. They will be touring extensively in both the U.S. and Europe in 2017 after recently signing with booking agency 13 Artists (Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, Portishead). ???A lot of artists tout, in their minds at least, that they???re the epitome of cool. But few exemplify that through their music like The Seshen.??? ??? MASS APPEAL ???The group???s powerful live show is now being matched to an astute studio approach which wrings out the emotion from every track??? ??? CLASH ???My record of the week??? ??? HUEY MORGAN (BBC 6MUSIC) ???Dope! Love this!??? ??? ANTHONY VALADEZ (KCRW) ???Soulful solitude??? ????? THE FADER ???The Seshen continue to impress with every release.??? ??? OKAYPLAYER ???It's always cause for celebration when there's new music from The Seshen??? ??? AFROPUNK ???A resounding success and refreshing listen, full of colorful rhythms and narrative introspection??? Socially Conscious Hard Rockers The Last InternationaleThe Last Internationale, a hard rock outfit founded by New York City natives Delila Paz and Edgey Pires, burst onto the scene a handful of years ago with their socially conscious songs and explosive live performances. So powerful was their impact that they quickly caught the attention and admiration of Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave and Prophets of Rage fame), which led to The Last Internationale being joined by former Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk on their major-label debut, 2014's "We Will Reign". Striking vocals, driving rhythms and a defiant political message all combine with great effect when The Last Internationale appears in concert at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach.
