The food at Barnyard is the purview of Chef Jesse Barber, formerly Chef de Cuisine at Tasting Kitchen, who trained with Thomas Keller at French Laundry. But fear not, Barber is an intellectual, in search of satisfaction and simplicity. There will be a refreshing lack of pretention on the plate and in the glass. Barber is a purist, focusing on local and seasonal ingredients, drawing mostly on Mediterranean and classical cooking techniques. There will be no foams or molecular hocus-pocus, just simple, local and delicious food.
Since the ‘60s, our location at 1715 Pacific has been a refuge for locals seeking a hearty, honest bite. Sitting on its own parking lot, next to Asylm’s famous blue graffiti box, Barnyard stays true to its beach legacy. Fully remodeled, the space is light, airy and open to the Pacific breeze, with modern, yet rustic interiors. The back patio is surrounded by greenery, with sofas and a community table encouraging groups to gather. Overlooking Pacific Avenue, our covered patio is perfect for a sunny lunch or an evening drink with friends.
